I’m a renowned photographer based in Cape Town and Swellendam, I specialize in underwater and fine art photography and also maternity, newborn, child and family photoagraphy.
My work has been featured on many South African photography publications and blogs including Orms, SA Creative, Photography Talk and Photography Blogger. I was especially thrilled to have my photograph ‘The Other Side’ published in the in 1x.com yearly book ‘Memento’ – as they choose and publish only 1% of the thousands of photos submitted.
I was born and raised in the Czech Republic and at the age of 19 I left to explore – I traveled the world as a model and adventurer. Ten years later I came to South Africa, settling here in beautiful Cape Town where I have now lived for the past 14 years.
South Africa is now my home and I live here with my love, Justin. A few years after meeting we got married and gave life to our precious daughter, Scarlet. I now spend most of my time with my family, hiking in the mountains or developing my skills as a photographer. I am a completely self-taught photographer and I work exclusively with natural light. I was a Canon girl from day one.
I am passionate about landscape photography – Cape Town is the perfect place to find stunning scenery and backdrops, so it’s really a photographer’s dream location! I love to combine beautiful landscapes with artistic portraits, which I call my ‘dreamscapes’.
Around 8 years ago I decided to experiment and started playing around with underwater photography. I completely fell in love with it! I began with artistic portraits using models and then expanded as I realized its potential – that I could also be photographing children, pregnant women and couples underwater too. These unusual underwater portraits are what set me apart from other photographers in Cape Town.
My underwater work has been published in the reputable South African magazines Submerge and Pix and in the well-known international magazine Digital Camera. Some of my absolute favorite underwater photographs were used in an advertorial campaign for ‘Acquasala’, an Italian perfume, alongside a video that I also shot for them.
My images are more than simply fine art photography; I am a photographer that creates images that are out of this world, images that are surreal, dreamy and etheric.
I’m also a mom and know how precious every moment with your child and your family is. Becoming a mom opened a new door as a photographer for me as I developed an interest in photographing babies, children, pregnant women and families. As this has become a big focus and passion for me, I’ve been gaining lots of experience working with kids, moms, dads and families over the last few years. It’s now a core part of the photography service that I offer, using my personal experience as a mom and my years of professional expertise to create really special family portraits.
